Khan (M.A. Islamic Studies)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ramzaan (Ramadan) is not merely a month in the Islamic calendar; it is a divine training period, a spiritual revolution, and a sacred opportunity granted by Allah \ufdfb to His servants. It is the month in which the Qur\u2019an was revealed, the month of fasting (Sawm), the month of mercy (Rahmah), forgiveness (Maghfirah), and freedom from Hellfire (Najaat min an-Naar).<\/p>\n<p>Allah \ufdfb says: \u201cO you who believe! Fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may attain Taqwa.\u201d (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183)<\/p>\n<p>Ramzaan is therefore not just about hunger and thirst \u2014 it is about attaining <em>Taqwa<\/em> (God-consciousness).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> The Blessings and Virtues of Ramzaan<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ramzaan is a month in which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The gates of Jannah are opened.<\/li>\n<li>The gates of Jahannam are closed.<\/li>\n<li>The devils are chained.<\/li>\n<li>One good deed is multiplied many times over.<\/li>\n<li>Laylatul Qadr, better than a thousand months, is granted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cWhoever fasts in Ramzaan with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.\u201d (Sahih al Bukhari H. No. 38 &amp; Muslim)<\/p>\n<p>Ramzaan is a gift. The real question is: <strong>Are we prepared to receive it properly?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Importance of Fasting (Sawm)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Fasting is the fourth pillar of Islam. It is an act of worship that is purely for Allah.<\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa said: Allah said, \u201cFasting is for Me, and I alone will reward it.\u201d (Hadith Qudsi)<\/p>\n<p>Fasting teaches:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Self-discipline<\/li>\n<li>Patience (Sabr)<\/li>\n<li>Gratitude<\/li>\n<li>Control over desires<\/li>\n<li>Compassion towards the poor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>True fasting is not only abstaining from food and drink but also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoiding lies<\/li>\n<li>Guarding the tongue<\/li>\n<li>Controlling anger<\/li>\n<li>Protecting the eyes and ears from sin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa warned:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoever does not give up false speech and evil actions, Allah has no need of him giving up his food and drink.\u201d (Sahih al-<strong>Bukhari<\/strong>, 1903)<\/p>\n<p>Fasting reforms the body and purifies the soul.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> The Spiritual Beauty of Iftar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Iftar is a moment of acceptance of duas. The fasting person has a special status at the time of breaking fast.<\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cThe supplication of a fasting person at the time of breaking fast is not rejected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iftar is not meant for extravagance but for gratitude. Even a date and water bring immense reward if consumed with sincerity.<\/p>\n<p>Feeding a fasting person carries equal reward without reducing the reward of the one fasting.<\/p>\n<p>Ramzaan teaches sharing, unity, and brotherhood.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Importance of Salah in Ramzaan<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Salah is the backbone of faith. In Ramzaan, its importance multiplies.<\/p>\n<p>Five daily prayers in congregation bring immense reward. Ramzaan is the best time to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Correct our Salah<\/li>\n<li>Improve concentration (Khushu\u2019)<\/li>\n<li>Become regular in Masjid attendance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A person who fasts but neglects Salah loses the true spirit of Ramzaan.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Taraweeh \u2013 The Night Illumination<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Taraweeh is a special night prayer offered only in Ramzaan after Isha Salah.<\/p>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa said: \u201cWhoever stands (in prayer) during Ramzaan with faith and hope for reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.\u201d (Bukhari &amp; Muslim)<\/p>\n<p>Taraweeh connects the believer to the Qur\u2019an. Listening to the entire Qur\u2019an during Taraweeh strengthens faith and understanding.<\/p>\n<p>It is not a burden; it is an honor.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Qiyam-ul-Lail and Tahajjud<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The last third of the night is the most blessed time.<\/p>\n<p>Allah descends to the lowest heaven and asks:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs there anyone seeking forgiveness so that I may forgive him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Qiyam-ul-Lail softens the heart. It brings closeness to Allah. The sincerest tears are shed in the darkness of night.<\/p>\n<p>Ramzaan nights are opportunities for transformation.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Laylatul Qadr \u2013 The Night of Power<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Laylatul Qadr is greater than 1,000 months (more than 83 years of worship).<\/p>\n<p>It falls in the last ten odd nights of Ramzaan.<\/p>\n<p>On this night:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Angels descend<\/li>\n<li>Decrees are written<\/li>\n<li>Worship equals a lifetime of devotion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The best dua taught by the Prophet \ufdfa:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAllahumma innaka \u2018afuwwun tuhibbul \u2018afwa fa\u2019fu \u2018anni\u201d<br \/>\n(O Allah, You are Most Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.)<\/p>\n<p>Missing Laylatul Qadr is a great loss.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Reciting and Understanding the Qur\u2019an<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ramzaan is the month of Qur\u2019an.<\/p>\n<p>Jibreel (AS) would revise the Qur\u2019an with the Prophet \ufdfa every Ramzaan.<\/p>\n<p>We must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recite daily<\/li>\n<li>Reflect on meanings<\/li>\n<li>Implement its teachings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Qur\u2019an is guidance, mercy, healing, and light.<\/p>\n<p>Recitation without understanding limits benefit. Ramzaan is the best time to reconnect with the Book of Allah.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li><strong> Charity and Good Deeds<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Prophet \ufdfa was most generous in Ramzaan.<\/p>\n<p>Zakat purifies wealth. Sadaqah removes calamities.<\/p>\n<p>Even a smile, kind word, or helping someone brings reward.<\/p>\n<p>Ramzaan multiplies every good deed.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li><strong> I\u2019tikaaf \u2013 Spiritual Retreat<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the last ten days, the Prophet \ufdfa used to observe I\u2019tikaaf in the Masjid.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019tikaaf teaches:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Detachment from worldly distractions<\/li>\n<li>Deep reflection<\/li>\n<li>Continuous worship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is a powerful way to seek Laylatul Qadr.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"11\">\n<li><strong> Eid-ul-Fitr \u2013 The Day of Gratitude<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Eid-ul-Fitr is not merely celebration; it is thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>After 30 days of fasting, prayer, sacrifice, and patience \u2014 Allah rewards His servants with Eid.<\/p>\n<p>Before Eid Salah:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pay Zakat-ul-Fitr<\/li>\n<li>Seek forgiveness<\/li>\n<li>Maintain ties of kinship<\/li>\n<li>Spread joy and unity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eid is a reminder that after patience comes relief.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion: Ramzaan \u2013 A Personal Transformation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ramzaan is a school of discipline.<br \/>\nRamzaan is a hospital for the soul.<br \/>\nRamzaan is a courtroom of self-accountability.<\/p>\n<p>The real success of Ramzaan is not how much we ate at Iftar, but how much we changed.<\/p>\n<p>If after Ramzaan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our Salah improves<\/li>\n<li>Our character improves<\/li>\n<li>Our relationship with Qur\u2019an strengthens<\/li>\n<li>Our sins reduce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then we have truly benefited.<\/p>\n<p>May Allah \ufdfb allow us to witness Ramzaan, honor it, and emerge from it purified like a newborn child.\u00a0 Ameen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article by<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Adv.
